Every child is different. Every family is different. That's why I believe parenting support shouldn't come with a one-size-fits-all solution.
At The Capable Parent, I help parents and caregivers better understand their children's behavior, strengthen family relationships, and develop practical strategies that work in real life, not just on paper.
Whether you're navigating tantrums, defiance, communication challenges, routines, or simply feeling overwhelmed, my goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and supported.
Because parenting isn't about perfection. It's about connection, understanding, and having the right tools when challenges arise.
Parenting Begins With Listening.
Hi, I’m Coach Nikki.
I'm a parent coach, behavior specialist, educator, and mom.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and a Master's degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies. Throughout my career, I've worked with hundreds of parents, caregivers, educators, and families in a variety of settings, including community programs, child welfare services, rehabilitation facilities, correctional institutions, and parent education programs.
What I've learned is simple:
Most parents aren't looking for judgment. They're looking for someone who will listen.
Someone who can help them understand what's happening, explain why it's happening, and provide realistic strategies they can actually use.
That's why I created The Capable Parent.
After years of facilitating parenting classes and supporting families from many different backgrounds, I realized that every family deserves guidance tailored to their unique situation, not generic advice.
My passion is helping parents feel less alone while giving them the confidence and skills to move forward with purpose.
When I'm not coaching parents, I'm also navigating parenthood myself. I understand that family life can be beautiful, messy, exhausting, rewarding, and unpredictable; sometimes all before breakfast.
That perspective helps me bring both professional expertise and real-life understanding to the families I support.
Because at the end of the day, we're all learning as we go.
Why "The Capable Parent"?
Because I believe most parents are far more capable than they realize.
When challenging behaviors show up, it's easy to question yourself, feel frustrated, or wonder if you're doing something wrong.
Often, what parents need isn't criticism.
They need clarity.
They need support.
They need someone who can help them understand their child's behavior and identify practical solutions that fit their family.
My role isn't to tell you how to parent.
My role is to help you discover what works best for your child and your family.
My Approach
Everything I do is built around one simple belief:
Parenting begins with listening.
Before creating strategies, we take time to understand:
What is happening
When it is happening
Why it may be happening
What has already been tried
What success would look like for your family
From there, we create practical, individualized solutions designed to help you feel more confident and effective.
No judgment.
No cookie-cutter advice.
Just support that meets you where you are.
Let’s Work Together
